Typical Question:

My system crashed.
How do I recover the system and move it to another computer?

  Answer:

You cannot simply copy a system from one computer to another or restore the backup copy to a different computer for this reason:

Windows requires software that is part of the loan system but is not included in the loan system directory. This software is installed in the Windows System folder the loan servicing system installation program at the time of the original installation.

It cannot be copied to another machine because Windows maintains a database of program information called the Windows Registry. This database is updated by the loan system installation program at the time of the original installation.

The only way to properly install the LoanMaster loan system is with the original LoanMaster Lite system setup program.

System Transfer Procedure for LoanMaster Lite

1)

If you are not familiar with the Windows Explorer or the My Computer dialog, find someone who is. You cant do this without it.

2)

Download and install the complete new system from the web site. This action will install the Windows software, update the Windows Registry, and place Icons on the Start Menu.

3)

Copy your old system, the entire directory and all its subdirectories, to your new computer at the same location as the new system was installed. This will completely overwrite the new system you just installed. You will receive multiple messages about overwriting the existing files. Click on "Yes to All" to avoid this message.

If you like, it is OK, but not necessary to delete the new system you installed before copying the old one.

At this point the old system should be working with your old data.  To verify this, start the system from the Start menu and check your data.

See Support pricing for information about which procedures are covered by support.
